Showreel
A sample of my work on various projects, using a combination of Premiere Pro, After Effects, Fusion, Lyric, Cinema 4D and other software.
Breakdowns of some of these projects are below!
Project Insights: Super Ryder Cup
This was a social media post created for the Ryder Cup's "history week" leading up to the 2023 tournament. It reimagined a historical moment from the Ryder Cup as an 80s-style arcade video game.
Here's a breakdown of its key elements:
Retro aesthetic: The post used an 80s arcade game style, including pixel art graphics, 8-bit music and sound effects, and a retro color palette.
Character select screen: A key visual element was a character select screen featuring pixel art versions of famous Ryder Cup players.
Gameplay elements: The video incorporated elements of golf video games, such as a power bar for the swing and an indicator of the lie of the ball.
Voiceover: A voiceover, mimicking the style of 80s arcade game announcers, provided commentary for the "gameplay."
The goal was to engage fans with Ryder Cup history in a new and exciting way, potentially drawing in a new audience of video game fans. The post was successful in increasing engagement and reaching a wider audience on Instagram and TikTok.
I was heavily involved in this project and I worked on the initial concept, the build process, all of the animation and element designs, and even provided the voice over work.
Project Insights: Golf On Earth Scoring
A project for a freelance client who makes golfing videos on YouTube.
In this project I conceptualised from scratch and designed scoring graphics which were delivered as .MOGRT files (Motion Graphics Templates) for ease of use by an editor who is not familiar with motion graphics software.
Designs are easy to work with, easy to read, and responsive to text sizes, including edge cases such as long names or a lot of text in a dropdown menu. Colour based scoring based on context is also implemented, all the editor has to do is type!
Project Insights: Inline Infographics
A project for a video review of a camera, this was a combination of my videography and motion design skills, with all footage and graphical elements being produced by me.
Final usage of these graphics was part of a larger video, these are just samples.
Project Insights: Gameshow Spec Design
A spec design project for a gameshow inspired by shows such as JetLag The Game and Richard Osman’s House Of Games.
Features:
Scoring graphics
Open ended questions
Multiple choice questions
Full Frame ‘Challenge’ Graphics
An ‘Inventory’ system of power-ups that players can use
Project Insights: Map Graphics
The brief was to design a motion graphic of a map to show the 35+ different locations that are visited by the DP World Tour during a tournament season.
Designs had to be:
Clean, to be used on a variety of platforms (live broadcast, highlights, social videos).
Quick and informative but also visually striking.
Easy to amend or create new versions, in case a location changes or is added to the schedule on short notice.
Using brand colours and typography, which again can be tweaked to instead represent the Challenge Tour (light blue) or Rolex Series events (gold).
I used After Effects and some high resolution satellite imagery to create this project, which ended up being a collection of over 90 files for various different tours and events.
This project was entirely managed and actioned by me from the ideation phase, the build phase, and the delivery phase.
Project Insights: Painting Overlays
Producers wanted a “painting” theme for the inserts of a high profile golf tournament, and this was my contribution.
The initial images were captured by me on location in an art gallery, and then using Mocha I tracked the inside of the painting to add custom footage, and also composited my own lighting effects into the scene to sell the ‘drama’ of the piece.
I often believe that gathering my own footage with my photography and videography skills is a better resource than using stock footage, it allows you to get exactly what you want instead of having to compromise, and it’s a key benefit of my diverse creative skillset!
